Mir Kainan

Mir Kainan is a brutal enforcer of the Mortisans, fanatically devoted to ensuring the bone-tithe is met. Certainly, any confronted by this osseous goliath soon seem to dredge up outstanding ‘payments’ – better that than face the annihilating swing of Kainan’s axe.

WIZARD: This unit can attempt to cast 1 spell in your hero phase and attempt to unbind 1 spell in the enemy hero phase.

Bone-tithe: Mir Kainan is a brutal enforcer of the Mortisans.
This unit has a tithe score that starts at 0 at the start of the battle. Each time an enemy model is slain by this unit’s attacks, increase this unit’s tithe score by 1. If that slain model had a Wounds characteristic of 4 or more, increase this unit’s tithe score by 2 instead of 1. At the start of your hero phase, if this unit has a tithe score of 1 or more, you can reduce its tithe score by 1. If you do so, pick 1 of the following abilities:

Built for War: Pick 1 friendly KAINAN’S REAPERS unit wholly within 6" of this unit. You can return up to 3 slain models to that unit.

Invigorated: Until your next hero phase, add 1 to the Attacks characteristic of melee weapons used by this unit and by friendly KAINAN’S REAPERS units wholly within 6" of this unit.

Dire Ultimatum: Mir Kainan compels the foe to engage him in hand-to- hand combat.
Dire Ultimatum is a spell that has a casting value of 4 and a range of 3". If successfully cast, pick 1 enemy unit within range and visible to the caster. Until your next hero phase, if this unit is within 3" of that enemy unit when that enemy unit is picked to fight, all attacks made with melee weapons by that enemy unit must target this unit. The range of this spell must be measured from the caster, even if an ability would allow you to measure it from elsewhere.

19.1 Casting Spells
In your hero phase, you can attempt to cast spells with friendly WIZARDS. You cannot attempt to cast the same spell more than once in the same hero phase, even with a different WIZARD. In order to attempt to cast a spell, pick a friendly WIZARD, say which of the spells that they know will be attempted, and then make a casting roll by rolling 2D6. If the casting roll is equal to or greater than the casting value of the spell, the spell is successfully cast.
14.2 Slain Models
Once the number of wounds allocated to a model equals its Wounds characteristic, the model is slain and you cannot allocate any more wounds to it. A slain model is removed from play (see 1.2.2) after all of the wounds caused to its unit have been allocated and all attacks that inflicted damage on the unit have been resolved.
