Lord of Hubris

Utterly enamoured with their own magnificence, the strutting peacocks known as Lords of Hubris swagger into battle, loudly demanding that the enemy’s finest face them in single combat. Those foolish enough to answer this challenge are cut to ribbons in a matter of seconds.

BATTALIONS: This warscroll can be used in the following warscroll battalions:
 • Depraved Carnival
 • Supreme Sybarites

‘You First, I Insist...’: So confident is this champion of excess that they allow their foe a futile swipe for free.
This unit has a ward of 4+. In addition, at the end of the charge phase, you can pick 1 enemy unit within 1" of this unit and say that the Lord of Hubris will give them the chance to strike first. If you do so, the strike-first effect applies to that enemy unit in the following combat phase, but if this unit is within 3" of that enemy unit when it is picked to fight, all of that unit’s attacks must target this unit.

Only the Best Will Suffice: Lords of Hubris refuse to fight alongside any but the finest warriors of the Sybarite hordes. In doing so, they inspire a level of pride worthy of their title.
At the start of the combat phase, you can pick 1 friendly MYRMIDESH PAINBRINGERS or SYMBARESH TWINSOULS unit wholly within 12" of any friendly units with this ability. If you do so, until the end of that phase, each time a model in that unit is slain, it can fight immediately, then it is removed from play.

14.3 Wards
Some abilities allow you to roll a dice to negate a wound or mortal wound, or to allocate a wound or mortal wound to a unit other than the original target. Abilities of this type are referred to as wards, and the dice roll is referred to as a ward roll. Unless stated otherwise, the ward roll is made before the wound is allocated to the model in question. Up to 1 ward roll can be made for each wound or mortal wound, unless specified otherwise. If the ward roll is successful, the wound or mortal wound is negated and has no effect on the model. If a wound or mortal wound cannot be negated, you cannot make a ward roll for that wound or mortal wound.
